I'm running for Congress because our political leaders have failed miserably when it comes to standing up for hard-working American families, creating jobs, lowering the deficit and honoring our nation's seniors by protecting Social Security and Medicare.

Floridians and all Americans deserve a representative who is committed to serving the public with honesty and integrity. That means doing what's right for everyday Americans, even if it upsets the powerful special interests in Washington and the billionaires on Wall Street.

Getting our country back on track requires leaders who work with both parties to create jobs and grow our economy. I've worked with small business owners, Republicans and Democrats, to improve the lives of seniors and families here in Sarasota and along the Suncoast. I will take that same pragmatic approach in Washington.

Our current representative, Vern Buchanan, embodies what's wrong with Washington. Not only is he ignoring the American people, he's surrounded by scandal and doles out huge tax giveaways to his donors. He has been called "the most corrupt member of Congress" and is currently under multiple ethics and Department of Justice investigations. He is clearly the problem in Washington, and it's time for him to go.

Americans are fed up with the antics of Congress, and I'm fed up.  It's time to focus on real solutions that protect our seniors, provide a brighter future for our kids and strengthen the middle class.

Americans deserve a representative who will fight for them. And, while I may not win every fight, I will be standing and fighting for you every day. Together, we will create good jobs here at home and move America forward, building a better future for all of us.
